The World According to Humphrey
After spending his whole life at Pet-O-Rama, Humphrey has a new home. In Room 26, Humphrey has met a wonderful substitute teacher, Ms. Mac, and a classroom full of spirited students who talk to him and take care of him. All was great until Mrs. Brisbane returned. Mrs. Brisbane does not like hamsters. In fact, she despises them. Luckily, he still has the students to take care of him during the day and on weekends. At night, he has Aldo, the night custodian, who sometimes gets lonely. Will Humphrey be able to help Aldo? You better read to find out!
Parent Teacher Conferences
Believe it or not the second set of parent teacher conferences is coming up! Conferences begin the week of January 30th Please send back the sign up form as soon as you are able to fill it in. If you lost your copy you can always download a new one under the Assignments tab.
Junior Great Books
During lunch on Fridays beginning January 22nd the PTO offers students an excellent reading group called Junior Great Books. Students read a common story and then share their opinions and have discussions facilitated by parent volunteers. This is a great opportunity for students to meet other students in their grade level as well as connect with great literature. The best part is that it is FREE! Download the registration form here.
Upcoming Field Trip
We are going on a field trip! Tuesday December 13th we will travel to the Shedd Aquarium. During the first trimester the kindergarten grade level has been investigating water for our science unit. As a culminating activity we are venturing to the Shedd Aquarium. During our tour of the Shedd we will explore the many plants and animals that live in and near water. We will also have the opportunity to have a class taught by a Shedd guide. We will discover what makes a home a habitat, both in nature and at Shedd. We will meet live animals, examine their homes and compare and contrast habitats in ecosystems around the world. Get the permission slip here!
