How does the board stay well-informed on so many different issues?
Board members regularly receive educational materials from the superintendent and board-affiliated agencies. They attend workshops and serve on a variety of education committees in and out of the district. They meet regularly with principals and directors to discuss programs and practices.

Periodically, the superintendent creates a master agenda, which lists upcoming topics of discussion. This allows time for board members to prepare for discussions in advance.

Several days before each board meeting, board members receive a board packet containing additional supporting documents – financial statements, bill lists, personnel information, and other relevant data. The administrative staff is available to answer any questions board members may have before the meeting. This makes for more informed discussions and better use of meeting time.
