Dear Parents,

I am very thankful for all of the input that has been shared through our Grand Round Review as well as the Middle School Focus Group held at Julian Middle School. We are currently reviewing and synthesizing all of the comments and thoughts shared at those venues and are beginning the work of creating the draft school improvement charters for the 2008-09 school year. Because we are still in the early stages of this work, and because Dr. Anderson will be out of district next week, the regularly scheduled March 18th meeting of the Brooks SIT will be postponed until after spring break.

The SIT team will meet again on April 1 to continue its work, and a Community Charter Review has been scheduled for April 21st, 2008 at 7:00 p.m. at Brooks Middle School. At this time we will present our work on the school improvement charters to date for all to understand and review. We will also provide an opportunity for public comment to add input to the charter development process. Dr. Anderson will be present at that meeting to assist in addressing questions. The final charter objectives and action steps for Brooks and all District 97 schools are on the schedule to be delivered to the district in mid June.

Please consider being a part of the charter development process as we look to realize the tenets identified in our new strategic plan for District 97.
