Brooks Earns Top Awards at the Music In The Parks Festival

The music department from Brooks Middle School earned high marks and won several awards during the Music In The Parks Festival held in Ohio May 18-20. The department's accomplishments included:

  • The symphonic orchestra scoring a "Superior Rating," earning first place in its division, and receiving both the highest score and distinction of having given the best overall orchestra performance at the festival.
  • The symphonic band scoring an "Excellent Rating" and earning first place in its division.
  • The wind ensemble scoring an "Excellent Rating" and earning second place in its division.
  • The chorus scoring a "Superior Rating" and receiving third place in its division.

More than 180 seventh and eight grade students from Brooks participated in the event, which drew schools from Ohio, Michigan and Pennsylvania. In addition to taking part in the competition, the students had the chance to visit the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Museum, enjoy a dinner/dance boat cruise around Lake Erie and spend an afternoon at Cedar Point Amusement Park.

Congratulations to all of the students on their achievements, and a special thank you to the 33 teachers, school administrators, parents/guardians and support staff who chaperoned the trip.
