Kindergarten Art Curriculum

Creative Process

Kindergarten students meet with an art teacher for 33 minutes a week. During this time they explore various media using basic drawing and painting, clay building, printmaking and paper construction in their activities. Large drawing instruments are encouraged and beginning cutting skills developed. Kindergarteners discover color mixing using primary colors. Thematic units are stressed to coincide with the concepts being taught in the kindergarten rooms. Multicultural projects are offered as well as any which recognize the relationship of art made today to that of our past. Always the emphasis is on the student’s self worth as an artist.
