THE PLACE WHERE THE SUN NEVER SHINED

Alexandra F.

Once there was a place where the sun never shined.  Either it was raining, thundering, or snowing.  But there was one boy that was always nice, happy, and kind.  But he had only lived there for one week.  So there just so happened to be a curse on the land. The curse was the sun never shined by an evil witch who came from a faraway land.

The only way it could be broken if someone was nice a hundred times in a row or if you saved an eagle from dying in the place where the sun never shined. She figured that no one would be nice or happy because the sun never shined and not one eagle had flown here for over one hundred years. But this boy had come from a village two miles away and the sun always shined there. But the boy didn't care if the sun never shined or the people were mean or rude, he was always cheerful.

Then one day he saw an eagle. Back in his village, he loved to follow the eagles all the way to the end of the village campus. So he followed the eagle. Then all of the sudden, the eagle dived down to catch its prey. The boy ran as fast as he could to see what the eagle was eating. He was eating a worm.  Then, he saw a wolf peering through the bushes. The boy and eagle froze. They ran as fast as they could and then the eagle carried him in the air. But soon the eagle's wings were getting tired so they went back down to the ground.  Sure enough, the wolf was running as fast as he could towards them.  The boy knew he had to do something, for the eagle had saved his life at first.  Now it was his turn. So with all his might, the boy threw the wolf into the ocean. And from that day on, everybody in the village called him the Eagle Boy because he had saved the eagle's life and the boy and the eagle were best friends. And everybody in the village was polite and happy, and the sun always shined.
