Mathematics Grade
6
Number Sense
- Understand basic concepts: factors, multiples, prime numbers,
and divisibility
- Understand characteristics of exponents
- Understand representation
of ratio, proportion, and percent
- Use basic applications of proportions
and percents to solve problems
- Add, subtract, multiply, and divide with
whole numbers, decimals, and fractions
- Visualizing huge numbers can be very difficult. People regularly
talk about millions of miles, billions of bytes, or trillions
of dollars, yet it's still hard to grasp just how much a "billion" really
is. The MegaPenny
Project aims to help by taking one small everyday item, the
U.S. penny, and building on that to answer the question: "What
would a billion (or a trillion) pennies look like?"
Measurement
- Understand concept of dimension
- Solve problems involving
perimeter and area for common polygons
- Understand units of measure for
perimeter and area
Algebra
- Graph data from a table
- Uses multiple representations
for a set of data: table, graph, or rule
Geometry
- Understand properties of lines and angles
- Define properties
of triangles
- Understand concept of similarity, congruency, and symmetry
Data and Probability
- Understand mean, median, and mode
- Interpret Venn diagrams,
charts, tables, and graphs
- Use data and statistics to draw conclusions
and make predictions
- Understand simple methods for determining probability
- Understand theoretical
and experimental probabilities

- MATHCOUNTS Drills
Homepage - The problems can help prepare for MATHCOUNTS competitions.
Most problems are adapted from previous MATHCOUNTS competitions
and workouts. Drills are scored and the results are displayed with
complete solutions. The same kind of problem may come with different
parameters every time you create a new test. You can also repeat
each test taken with the same problems or with only the missed problems.
- Math in Daily
Life: The Annenberg/CPB Project Exibition. " Human beings didn't
invent math concepts; we dicovered them....In this exhibit, you'll

earlier problems and the solutions are followed by a step-by-step
description that each team and/or individual used to arrive at the
solution, this site would be great for Math Olympiad practice or
