Rhythm

  • Read, perform, and notate the following rhythm values in various combinations: eighth rest, 16th/8th combinations
  • Recognize the use of the tie

Melody

  • Study the soprano recorder
  • Sing and perform music using a diatonic scale
  • Read and write notes in the treble clef
  • Recognize names of lines and spaces

Texture/Harmony

  • Create and perform accompaniments to songs using I and V (tonic and dominant) relationships

Form

  • Perform melodic question and answer phrases
  • Identify structural units such as phrases, sections, introductions, 1st and 2nd endings, and coda

History/Culture

  • Perform authentic folk dances
  • Explore creative movement
