Summary:

Students will learn about a country’s climate, geography, vegetation and culture.

Description:

Students will write a story about a trip to a country that they have never been to but are interested in visiting. They will do research similar to a travel writer such as Paul Theroux or Bill Bryson. They will give a detailed description of the environment, topography, climate, vegetation, people and culture of that country. They will then write a fictional account of their travels through that country; the people they meet, the sights they see, the environments and obstacles they come across. Through research and creative writing, students will appear to have really visited the country. Students will use Microsoft or Appleworks drawing programs to create a map of their country or find and print one off of the internet. Students will then find pictures of the country and create a slide show using Power Point or other slide show program.
