This activity is a web quest, designed to align with many of the concepts covered in the physical science units for the fifth grade. Students will use the Internet to complete a web quest, essentially answering questions and completing short activities.
Earth Science: if shipwrecks could talk

This web quest follows the interdisciplinary Delta Science Module, If Shipwrecks Could Talk and is designed to be used after its completion. Different internet sites will be used to answer some basic questions about five famous shipwrecks. After the information is gathered it will be shared. A number of presentation and writing options are available.

Using the information from these activities, and information from various food labels, students develop an AppleWorks spreadsheet for the purpose of comparing calories, protein, carbohydrates, and fat content in various foods. The goal is to make some decisions about healthy food choices based on the data.
