integrating science and technology Instructions
  • Students are to create a 3-5 minute television style infomercial, depicting some environmental concerns they wish to share with local town officials.
  • This assignment will be filmed, so students will be required to dress appropriately to suit their roles as effective communicators, and public spokespeople.
  • The infomercial should focus on these important aspects:
    • Identify the problem or potential hazard.
    • Show visual evidence that the problem does indeed exist. (In other words, present film footage or photographs depicting the main areas of concern. By showing the audience these visuals, coupled with student narration, the result will be much more effective).
    • Offer a potential solution to the problem (based off of knowledge gained from the ecology unit).
    • In persuasive essay style, urge others to make note of your concerns and offer ways in which they may become involved. This will require that students research various agencies in Oak Park, who are willing to make themselves available to attend to these concerns.
