integrating science and technology Instructions

This project can be used when a study of the water cycle is completed during the Earth Science unit. It can also be used as a concluding activity to the entire Earth Science unit.

This project can be completed with a partner if teacher desires.

1. Students will view the example project. Explain the rubric for how project is graded.
2. Students will receive and design their project on the pre-planning guide. It is essential the students have the concepts of each card as well as which cards connect to other cards prior to using the computer. Use this time to explain the concepts of mPower5, using the provided mPower5 Guide. This is also the time to use the internet resources to gather any additional or missing information.
3. Once the pre-planning guide is done, students need to get it approved by teacher. The pre-planning guide should include: text boxes, graphics, illustrations, etc.
4. Students will use mPower5 to create their cards. Directions on how to use mPower5: please use the tech tips at the following website: http://www.op97.org/pub/techtips/mPower5.pdf
5. Once all projects are completed, the students can view one another’s project. One option is to rotate with one project per computer. After a few minutes, each student rotates to another computer. Another option is the have the projects displayed either on a TV or with an LCD projector on a large screen.
6. Using the assessment rubric, the teacher can assess each project.
