Description: Students will use an internet database to research roller coasters from around the world. They will then transfer their information to a spreadsheet to compare the data. Students will then view and read different websites about the history of roller coasters, answering questions regarding the sites. They will then have access to sites on which they may build their own roller coaster and see if it works.

Time: This activity will take 4 class sessions of approximately 35 minutes each. Additional time may be necessary if students are not familiar with spreadsheets.

Materials:

  • Computer with internet access and Appleworks or Microsoft Excel
