Cell - the little square in which you enter information

Create The Spreadsheet

  1. Open a spreadsheet.
  2. Place cursor in cell B1. Enter the title of spreadsheet and your name.
  3. Place cursor in cell B4. In each column, enter the categories of research. For example, in B4, type in “Name of Roller Coaster.” In C4, type in “Type.” In D4, type in “Height.” Keep going until all category headings are entered.
  4. In each row underneath, enter the data from the data collection page.

Change Font, Size, Style, etc.

  1. When done, highlight all the squares of the spreadsheet. To do this, start with the upper left square, hold down the mouse, and drag to the opposite corner.
  2. At top of screen, go to format. Find “Font.” Select the font you want to use.
  3. Repeat steps for size, style, etc.
  4. To change title, simply highlight the cell you wrote the title in and repeat steps.

Change size of cell

  1. At the top of spreadsheet, the columns are labeled with a letter. If you want to change the width of the cells, place cursor between the two letters of the column you want to change. The cursor will change to a bar with arrows on both sides. Once you have that, click and drag on the mouse and move to the size.
  2. At the side of the spreadsheet, the rows are labeled with a number. If you want to change the height of the cells, place cursor between the numbers of the row you want to change. The cursor will change to a bar with arrows on top and bottom. Once you have that, click and drag the mouse to change the size.
  3. If you want to have it automatically done, once you notice the cursor changes to a bar with arrows, simply double click. The size will automatically set to the largest cell.

To Add a border

  1. Highlight the cells you want to border.
  2. Go to “Format” on top of screen. Click on “Borders.”
  3. Select where you want the border. Outline will draw a border around the highlighted cells.
