Summer Tutor List
Summer School
School Daze -
is a tuition based summer program held during the morning for
students currently in K-7 from June 10-June 27. Eighth graders
are able to attend OPRF high school summer classes.
Academic Camp [noon-3pm] - accelerated classes
along with the basics held in the afternoons.
Summer Band and Orchestra Camp - held mornings
July 21- August 21 at Julian Middle School.

Reading
Summer Reading - suggested
books compiled by the Oak Park Public
Library in partnership with the D97 Language Arts specialists and
Media Specialists. New this year are the
recommended Middle School lists. [grade entering next school year]: 7th, 8th, 9th. Check

Early Start summer
school for K-4 will be held July 28, 2008 thru the August 15, 2008.
Students hours are 8:30-11:30. Locations: Mann (with Holmes students
joining them), Hatch (with Whittier and Beye students joining them),
and at Irving, Longfellow and Lincoln. Attendance is mandatory
for grades one through four and strongly recommended for kindergarten
students. No tuition is charged for this mandatory summer school.
No transportation will be provided. Any student who misses 4 days
will be dropped from summer school and may be retained.
Stepping Stones, a Title
I afternoon literacy program. Title I schools are: Beye,
Holmes,Irving, Longfellow and Whittier. (Whittier and Beye students
will stay at Hatch for this program.) Only students attending those
schools will be eligible to attend Stepping Stones. Stepping Stones
will be held July 28 thru August 15th. No tuition is charged for
this recommended summer school. No transportation will be provided
.Any student who misses 4 days will be dropped from summer school
and may be retained.
Middle School Academy
Middle School Academy [required for
some students] is held at both Middle Schools
from June 9, 2008 thru July 11, 2008 [no classes July 4]. Students
in current grades 6 and 7 are required to attend. Current grade
5 students will attend their middle school for summer instruction.
Students are required to attend all classes from 9:00 am - noon.
No tuition is charged for this mandatory summer school. No transportation
will be provided. Any student who misses 4 days will be dropped
from summer school and may be retained.
Middle School Math Enrichment
This program is collaboration between District 97 and Oak Park
River Forest High School District 200. Instructors will use District
97 textbooks and materials, our teachers will be providing the
instruction, but the high school has generously offered to partially
fund the program. The District 97 teachers below will provide the

Summer Student Empowerment Program
Summer Student Empowerment is a program for middle school
students that begins on June 11th and goes through July 26th.

CAST is pleased to offer
two theatre programs during the summer on the Julian Campus.
Youth Arts Institute is a four week, full day performing arts
camp for incoming third and fourth graders.
CAST SUMMER is a five
week, full day performing arts camp for fifth through eighth grade
students. In both camps, students work with Chicago area professional
theatre artists to create a magical performance festival. Both
camps are tuition based. There are a limited number of scholarships
