Ebisu a popular Shinto diety; god of fishermen and good fortune. He is most often pictured with a fishing pole and a large tai (sea bream or red snapper) either dangling from the pole or tucked under his arm. He is also thought of as the god of the morning sun, and a guardian of the health of little children. Below are pictures from Akashi's shrine celebration.
