Dear Janet and friends, How are you? In this letter, we want to tell you about out next holiday, Purim. Purim is based on Megilat Esther (Esther's scrolls), where it was mentioned. On Purim, the kids masquerade and all the people exchange gifts (Mishlochey Manot), it means that they give packages or plates with sweets, candies, and of course, the tradition of the holiday, Ozney Haman (Haman's ears). According to the book of Ester, there was an evil man, called Haman, so we eat his ear, as a symbol for our victory. We eat Haman's ears with poppy seeds, jam, nuts and chocolate.
Now I will tell you about the costume tradition. On Purim, the main tradition is to masquerade. Most of the kids wear costumes of famous personality, of a famous leader, of a television character and else⦠In our school, there is a special day for it. On that day, all the kids are coming with their costumes and they bring the goodies I've already told you about. Then the kids are exchanging the goodies with each other and it is a fun day. It is similar to Halloween but a little different, since we do not trick or treat. We love this holiday because we have 3 days off and a lot of parties and fun. Bye bye, |
