Kasuga-Taisha shrine

Kasuga-Taisha shrine is one of the top three most important shrines in Japan. Kasuga shrine is famous for it's many stone and copper lanterns. There are long rows of them which were presented to the shrine by individuals as an expression of their faith. Each one is inscribed with the name, date, and special wish. The 1000 lanterns are lit twice a year: once in early February and again in mid-August.

You will also see many deer on the grounds of the park, they are small in size and often come right up to people.
