Kenichi Horie and Minoru Saito Arrived in Japan

Kenichi Horie, age 66, and Minoru Saito, age 71, have each made solo sailing trips around the world. They arrived in Japan within a day of each other - June 6 and 7, 2005. Both have sailed around the world before, and will probably do so again.

Mr. Horrie experienced several storms along the way, but no major ones. He is the first one (without stopping at a port) to have sailed around the southern hemisphere by both the eastbound and westbound routes. See more about Mr. Horie here. You can read his diary here.

Mr. Saito's trip took 234 days; he'd wanted to be able to do it in 180 days! He is the oldest person to have completed such a trip. For more about Minoru Saito, look here.
