There's nothing more exciting than cheering on your favorite Houston sports team as they pull off a victory.  Whether you like football, baseball, basketball, or hockey, Houston sports teams offer a constant supply of action, awesome and spectacular events to watch.

And if you’re an amateur athlete, Houston recreation opportunities include the area's public parks, which provide a world of fitness activities, including jogging, cycling, in-line skating, tennis, golf, basket ball and disc golf.

If it’s the water that lures you, greater Houston recreation also includes beaches and plenty of fishing, sailing and water sports.

Baseball fans won't want to miss Minute Maid, home of the Houston Astros. The park features a retractable roof that can withstand hurricane conditions and close in twelve minutes. The modern Toyota Center is the basketball stadium for the Houston Rockets, and the Reliant Stadium is the new home of the Houston Texans football.

Houston's legendary Astrodome was the first domed, closed stadium in the world when it was built in 1965. It now houses big-wheel truck racing, trade shows and, in March, the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo - predictably, the world's largest. Famous county music singers perform to the crowd. Many young people receive grand awards for their auctioned animals that they took best care of.

NASA has been controlling space flight from the Johnson Space Center. Take your family to Space Center Houston. Blast off for NASA’s visitors center featuring actual space gear, simulator rides, plus hands-on fun for all ages. You get to try on space helmets, inspect moon rocks and some remarkably rickety-looking rocket replicas, and join astronauts and scientists in the cafeteria. “Houston” was the first word spoken from the moon when Armstrong first landed.
