Houston's legendary Astrodome was the first domed, closed stadium in the world when it was built in 1965. NASA has been controlling space flight from the Johnson Space Center. Take your family to Space Center Houston. Blast off for NASA’s visitors center featuring actual space gear, simulator rides, plus hands-on fun for all ages. You get to try on space helmets, inspect moon rocks and some remarkably rickety-looking rocket replicas, and join astronauts and scientists in the cafeteria. “Houston” was the first word spoken from the moon when Armstrong first landed.
