Purim is a very funny holiday. On Purim we eat Haman's Ears, we costumes, we give each other gifts and goodies, and before all - we are happy.

The story of Purim is: When Vashri the queen, leaves Achashverosh the king, Achashveros wants a new queen. He finds a beautiful young girl, Ester. He doesn't know that Ester is Jewish. Haman, Achashverosh's prime minister, tells Achashverosh that he needs to kill any Jewish people in Shushan. Achashverosh agrees because he is a foolish king.

Haman throws a raffle (raffle is "Pur" in Hebrew, and from here is the name of Purim) to when to kill the Jewish people. In this time, Mordichai ( Ester''s uncle) heard 2 of Achashverosh's servants say one to the other that they want to kill the king. Mordechai tells this to Ester, Ester tells it to Achashverosh, and he kills the servants.

One night, when Achasverosh doesn't sleep, he reads his memory book (a special kind of diary) that Mordechai the Jew saved him, he tells the Jewish people that they do not need to be afraid, because he will not kill them.

Ester goes to the king and saves her people from death because she tells him the truth about Haman and his plot to kill all of the Jewish people. So the king hangs Haman from the highest tree in the land and this is why we celebrate Purim and we are happy and gay.

This is the story of Ester; it appears in Ester’s scroll.

Because of what happened to us, we celebrate Purim.

Purim is getting close and all of the the kids are excited because Purim is a special holiday:

The Jews have special customs for Purim. The children get dressed up in many costumes: the girls to princesses and queens, dolls, and many more things. (I like to be original, so I got dressed as a cook, a maid and more... Every year, I design a new costume). The boys get dressed up like cops, supermen, and famous and funny people. Some are even getting dressed like girls!

This year I think I will have a costume of an artist. The idea came to me from this special French hat that my grandmother has in her house. Another special thing we do is eat Haman's ears - and no, we don't eat the ears of anybody - It is a name for a food. Haman's ears are a baked food in a shape of a triangle. In the middle there is a hole and in the hole there is chocolate or jam. On Purim we go to the synagogue, to hear Ester's scroll. The Jews have five scrolls and Ester's scroll is one of them. So, we do all of these special things because of the things that are written in the scroll. The students get vacation of three days and it is very enjoyable. We go to school with our costumes and show them to the class, as we watch the other costumes. We have another custom: To send goodies to each other. We take many candies and sweets, wrap them in a pretty wrapping paper and send them to each other. Before Purim, we do in class a raffle with all of the kid's names, and we bring a package to the kid that we got. Purim is a very fun holiday and we enjoy celebrating it!

I like Purim too, because every year I dress up to a special thing: On 3rd grade I dressed to a calculator, On 4th grade I dressed to a palm island,(because my name is Itamar, and in Hebrew Itamar is: I-island, and tamar is palm). last year, on 5th grade i dressed to a computer, and on this year I will dress to a Dementor (Dementor is an evil creature in "Harry Potter" serious).

Hello friends!!! I think that purim is one of our greatest holidays. But itis one of the shortest :cry: . In some schools and Festivals there are costumes competition.
