First White Christmas

Carlos O.

I woke up in the morning and it wasn't that cold outside. The sun was hot because of the cloudless skies. Why is it that we have such weird weather in Houston? So I put on a pair of shorts and a T-shirt and went about my day.

It was the twenty-fourth of December and I needed to do some last minute shopping. I got in my car and went to the Galleria. I new exactly what I needed, so I walked straight to the Tiffany and Co. jewelry store.

The place was packed. Everyone was jammed in the store like a can of sardines. So I bought the ring I needed, got it wrapped and left. It was about three o’clock by the time I left the mall. The temperature had already dropped about twenty degrees. I got home and put on some warmer clothes.

My family and I got our things together and went to my grandma’s. We went in, greeted everyone and sat down to eat. My mom asked me to go get the gifts from the car at about ten o’clock. When I walked outside, I saw that the cars were covered in a white sheet of snow. It was awesome! I grabbed the gifts, packed a snowball, went inside and threw it at my cousin. Everyone was confused. They all asked, "What was that?"

"A snowball!" I said.

Everyone immediately ran out to play in the snow during our first white Christmas in Houston. We had countless hours of fun that night. That was the most memorable Christmas of my life .
