Infiorata 2007 - Kobe Kitanozaka

4/28-29/07

The word “infiorata” means “covering the flowers” in Italian. This is an event that started in 1997 after the earthquake, when people drew huge picture with tulip petals on public squares and streets. The tulip petals are provided by farmers in Toyama and Niigata Prefectures. They pick the flowers so that the bulbs will become bigger for the next year, and can be sold for planting. Many visitors enjoy these wonderful scenes, and now you can too. This year's theme is international fairy tales.

The viewing of the flower petal designs ends on Monday, April 30, with is earth day in Kobe.
