Countdown to Midnight
Oak Park Avenue became Diagon Alley for the Day.Scovile Park turned into a chess game with living pieces and Mills Park held Quidditch matches all afternoon.
The library had many Potter events, including a class in potion making. Children and adults were everywhere, enjoying the events and some dressing up as their favorite witch or wizzard. Topping the day was the countdown. Magic Tree bookstore has sold 850 pre-ordered copies of the book. As midnight neared (about 11:30) numerous boxes of the book were delivered to the Library Plaza. From a giant Video screen came the countdown. The minutes; the seconds... the crowd joined in for the last 20 second countdown.
Then Midnight came, the boxes were opened and cheering readers were rewarded with their copies of the Deadly Hallows. ....and the reading started.... |
