Middle School

Why does my Middle Schooler  need to wear an ID?

All middle school students in District 97 are required to wear a student identification badge. Students must wear their student ID on an approved  lanyard while at school and for school sponsored events. The IDs are used for multiple purposes:

  1. making sure that only our students enter the building each morning;
  2. checking out library books;
  3. identifying bus students who are approved to ride the bus;
  4. charging to the lunch account;
  5. facilitating identification of and discussions with students by all staff.

Consequences for failure to follow this rule are as follows:

The students will have three (3) warnings before consequences are applied.  For each of the 4th, 5th, and 6th offences, an after school detention will be assigned, 3:40 p.m.  to 4:15 p.m. on Tuesdays or Thursdays.  For the 7th offense in one trimester, a one-hour Saturday detention will be assigned and supervised by one of the Julian administrators.  Please work with your student to find ways to make sure your student comes to school each day with his/her student ID.

Replacement IDs cost $5.00, lanyards $1.00 to $3.00, and recommended plastic covers are 50 cents.  Contact your child’s school office if a replacement ID is needed.
