Aladdin and His Wonderful Lamp

Grade 2C , Auburn South Primary School, Melbourne, Victoria ,Australia

Long ago, in China there lived a boy named Aladdin. Aladdin was a lazy boy. He played in the street with his friends all day. His father was dead and his mother had to work very hard to put food on the table. One day Aladdin met a man in the street, "you should know me," he said.
"I am your Dad's brother, your uncle"
Aladdin trusted him but he was really a wicked magician.

The magician promised to make Aladdin rich. He took Aladdin to an old well. "Climb inside. You'll be in a cave. Keep walking and do not take any of the treasure you see. At the end of the cave you will find a beautiful cave. You will see an old lamp. Bring that lamp to me. Here is a magic ring, use it if you need help"
I was dark inside the cave. Aladdin saw gold, silver, jewels and money but he didn't take any.

When he reached the garden he saw the lamp on the table just as the magician had said. It looked like an ordinary lamp but Aladdin obeyed the magician.

He hurried back to the top of the well. He tried to climb out but it was too hard. "Help me!" called Aladdin. The magician just wanted the lamp. So Aladdin became frightened and climbed back down. It was cold and dark in the cave. Aladdin rubbed his hands together to get warm. As he did so he rubbed the magic ring and in a booming voice the Slave of the ring yelled, "what do you want?"
"Take me home!" said Aladdin and Zap he was there.

The next day Aladdin's mother was busy polishing when she rubbed the old lamp this time the slave of the lamp appeared. "Don't be afraid" he said, "I will grant you anything you like."
Aladdin and his mother soon wished for all the money and fine things they needed. They lived happily for many years until one day Aladdin was in the street watching a parade when he saw a princess riding by on horseback. He fell in love with her beauty and decided to take a bag of jewels to the king and asked that he might marry the princess. The king realised that Aladdin was a very rich man, so he agreed and the wedding was planned. Aladdin and the princess were married and they went to live in their new palace. One day the wicked magician came back. He had a clever idea to get the lamp back. He walked up and down the street calling out " New lamps for old, new lamps for old"
When the princess heard this cry she raced out to the street with the old lamp. As soon as the magician had the magic lamp he told the slave of the lamp to send the princess and the palace far away to Africa. When the king and queen found out that their daughter was missing the king sent soldiers to find Aladdin. Aladdin knew he must find his wife. He rubbed the magic ring and said " Take me to the princess!" At once he was in Africa with the princess. Together they thought of a plan. The princess invited the magician to dinner. Aladdin put something in his drink and the magician fell into a deep sleep. As soon as he was sleeping Aladdin rubbed the magic lamp and they were all returned to China safely. The king and queen were very excited to see them and they all lived happily ever after.
