Ashpet always had to work for the Widow Hooper and her daughters. Myrtle was one of Mrs. Hooper's daughters. Widow Hooper hid Ashpet under the washtub when anyone came. Ethel and Myrtle tried to get firewood from Granny. Ashpet visited Granny. Granny tapped her stick. Ashpet brushed Granny's hair. Granny tapped the floor with her walking stick. When Ashpet opened the door, the dishes were done and she had a new dress. Ashpet was excited about her new dress for the church meeting. Everyone looked at Ashpet at the church meeting. The doctor's son noticed Ashpet. Ashpet and the doctor's son went on a picnic. Ashpet kissed the doctor's son. Ashpet ran home at midnight. Ashpet came home quickly. The doctor's son jumped to get the stone from the crow. The doctor's son found the shoe in the bush. Widow Hooper yelled at Ashpet. Widow Hooper has Ashpet under the washtub. Ashpet and the doctor's son fell in love.The doctor's son came to Ashpet's house. Ashpet zoomed home fast. "I believe I'd like to get married," said Ashpet. Ashpet and the doctor's son lived happily ever after.
