Grade 2 - Lakeview School - Tyngsborough, Massachusetts
Teachers: Fran Diodoti, Laurie Patterson

Once upon a time Beauty, her father, and her sisters lived at the edge of the forest. Beauty was the youngest in the family. One day Beauty's father went hunting in the woods. He came upon a castle that had lovely gardens.

Beauty's father picked a red rose because Beauty loved roses. Suddenly, there was an ugly Beast standing in front of Beauty's father. The Beast was ugly because he had a furry body, big yellow teeth, sharp claws and a horrifying voice. The Beast was quite angry that he picked the rose and he growled at Beauty's father. The Beast wanted him to become a prisoner in his castle. Beauty's father asked the Beast if he could first say good-bye to his family.

Beauty's father went home and explained to his daughters what had happened. Beauty insisted that she take his place because her father picked the rose for her. Beauty went with her father to the castle and they said good-bye. The Beast welcomed Beauty and treated her like royalty. Every night at the end of the evening he kept asking her to marry him. But Beauty kept on saying no because she was afraid of marrying a beast. Beauty became sad because she wanted to visit her family. The Beast said that she may visit her family, but she must return in two weeks or else he would die.

Beauty had a wonderful visit and lost track of time. The Beast became ill because Beauty did not return on time. One evening Beauty dreamed that the Beast lay dying in the garden and she remembered her promise. Beauty quickly returned to the castle and found the Beast motionless. Zzzzz! Because she really cared about the Beast, Beauty hugged and kissed him and broke the evil curse.

Slowly the Beast began to open his eyes and he changed into a handsome prince. He joyful that Beauty had broken the spell. Beauty agreed to marry the Prince because she loved him. They lived happily every after. "EXCELLENT!"
