Cinder Edna

Grades 3-4, Norwood Ave. Elementary School, Port Jefferson Station, New York,

Cinderella and Cinder Edna lived neXt door to each other. Edna is strong, spunky and tells some good jokes, like the one about the kangaroo from kalamaZoo. Cinder Edna and Cinderella did chores and housework around the house. Edna mowed the yard to keep herself warm, while Cinderella sat in the cinders. Cinder Edna cleaned parrot cages for her neighbors to earn some money.

The king sent an invitation to all the ladies of the kingdom to come to the ball. Cinderella had a fairy godmother, although Cinder Edna was not a believer of fairy tales or fairy godmothers. So she used her cage cleaning money to buy a dress for the ball. Cinder Edna arrived to the ball by bus. Cinderella took the horse and carriage to the ball.

Randolph, the king’s son was very boring. Rupert is Randolph’s younger brother who lives in a cottage, runs a recycling plant and takes care of orphaned kittens. Rupert fell in love with Cinder Edna. Rupert and Edna danced all night long at the ball. Cinderella just swayed to the music because she didn’t want to mess her hair or break her glass slippers.

Edna and Cinderella left the ball at midnight. That’s when the buses quit running and the carriage turned back into a pumpkin. Cinder Edna lost her loafer at the ball. Rupert found it and knew that the girl from the ball was named Edna. Rupert looked up all the Ednas in the palace directory.

All the girls were visited by Rupert to name 16 different kinds of tuna casserole so he could find Cinder Edna. Rupert found Cinder Edna because he said, “the girl that I was dancing with could make sixteen kinds of tuna casserole.

Rupert and Edna had a double wedding with Cinderella and Randolph, but Edna and Rupert lived happily ever after.
