The Frog Prince

Grade 2, Shady Side Academy Junior School, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

A long time ago when a princess was playing with her favorite toy, she dropped it in the well. Then she asked a frog to get it back. It was easy to find because it was a golden ball.

The frog said that he would get it only if she made a promise that she would be his companion forever. But the princess thought that the frog would forget the promise and she left the frog in the well.

The frog said she would have to share her food and her bed with him. The frog got out of the well and went to the palace to see the princess. The princess opened the door, saw that it was the frog and slammed it shut! Then she went back to the dining room and her father asked who was at the door. The princess said that it was a frog that she had made a promise to and did not keep it. The king said that all promises have to be kept and she let the frog in. The frog asked to be put on the table and to eat her food. After dinner the frog asked to sleep in her bed. Then the princess got really angry at him and threw him against the wall! Before the frog touched the floor, he wasn’t a frog anymore! He was a prince! The prince went back to his castle and married the princess. They lived happily ever after.
