Little Red Riding Hood

Grade 1 - Woodward Academy Primary School, Atlanta, Georgia

Retold by Mrs. Turner's First Grade Class

Yesterday, there was a little girl named Red Riding Hood. She had a grandmother named Po Po. Her mom sent her to visit Po Po often with a basket of goodies. Red Riding Hood liked to tarry along the route to Po Po's house and pick a bouquet of sunflowers. Along the route she met an ugly, wicked wolf. The wolf had such fine manners that it took Red Riding Hood a long time to realize he was vicious. Red Riding Hood was taking a custard pie and some wine to Po Po. Red Riding Hood was alarmed when the wolf asked if he could escort her to her grandmother's cottage. The wolf zoomed quicker than greased lightening to Grandmother's house. Granny was very distressed when she saw the wolf! He ran in with joy on his face and gobbled up the solemn Po Po. The wolf hoped he had eXtra room in his tummy for the little girl. He quickly dressed into Po Po's odd nightdress and waited for Red Riding Hood. The huntsman heard the wolf and killed him. He took Po Po out of the wolf and then skinned the wolf. The huntsman took the wolf's skin home to make a fun coat for his wife.
