Rumplestilskin

Grade 1, Escuela Campo Alegre, Caracas, Venezuela

Once there was a castle, and in it lived a king who loved gold. The castle was above a small town and there was a forest nearby. The king woke up one day and decided he wanted more gold

The town miller was happy because he tricked the king by telling him his daughter could weave gold. So the king decided to have the miller’s daughter make all his yellow straw into tons of gold. The king was so very greedy! So, the miller’s daughter was taken to a lonely room where she had to work hard.

One morning, a strange man who lived in the forest woke up with a terrible idea.
He would make the spinning wheel in the room spin straw into gold for her! The miller’s daughter gave Rumplestilskin her only ring in payment. The next night, Rumplestilskin told the miller’s daughter to give the necklace to him. The third night, as she had nothing else, she agreed to give Rumplestilskin her first baby.

When the baby was born, Rumplesilskin wanted to take the baby away with him into the forest, but he gave the queen a chance. If she guessed his name, she could keep the baby. The queen sent her most faithful servant to inquire about the name of the sneaky little man. So the maid went at night, under the moonlight, into the forest to discover Rumplestilskin’s name. That way the baby would be saved. Rumplestilskin was dancing and joyfully flying around a big fire, and he was singing out his strange name. The queen now new his secret! Boy was he vexed!
