Message from November 3, 2017

Hello Hatch Families,

What a festive Halloween we had! Thank you to the many, many parent volunteers who worked so hard to make the 2016 Halloween Disco a huge success as well as all the room parents who helped organize the class celebrations on Monday. The weather was chilly, but the kids had a blast!

We are asking all families to complete the digital Walking Field Trip Permission Slip for each student via the attached Google Form. The forms will be kept on file with your child's teacher for the 2017-2018 school year. Thank you. Walking Field Trip Permission Google Form

P.A.W.S. Program

This week all parents/guardians received a brochure describing a check-in/check-out program the PBIS team is implementing at Hatch called P.A.W.S., which stands for Positively Awesome Ways to Succeed.  Students check-in when the arrive at school with a specific coach and receive a daily behavior card that is used to provide feedback after each class period by the classroom teacher.  At the end of their day, students check-out with the same coach and reflect on their day.  Approximately 10% of the students at Hatch will participate in this program so the PBIS team wanted to share information with all families.  If your child is selected to participate, you will receive additional information.  If you have any questions, please feel free to contact our PBIS internal coach and social worker, Susan Mura, at [email protected].

Attention parents of children with food allergies: The PTO is looking for a volunteer to be Food Allergy Chairperson. This person should have current knowledge of food allergens. We are looking for someone to serve as a resource for PTO-sponsored after-hours events that serve food, such as Taste of Hatch Patch, Movie Matinee, Halloween Disco, and Fun Fair. The goal is for this person to work with the chairs or committees for each event so that an appropriate option for kids with food allergies is provided and that the events feel safe and inclusive to all. This could include ensuring there is a packaged snack offering that is allergy-friendly and providing ingredient lists for prepared foods. This is a new role and the volunteer who takes it on will be able to help shape it for the future. Please email Beth at [email protected] if interested.
