Participation Information
Non-tenured teachers must select and receive four UNIVERSITY 97credits
prior to becoming tenured. Any course offered to employees for
credit requires the same level of academic scholarship that would
be required to obtain university credit. UNIVERSITY 97 requires
participants to be present for 15 hours of instruction to receive
one hour of semester credit and 30 hours for two semester credits.
Course participants should expect a minimum of two hours of preparation,
research or product creation outside of course sessions for each
hour that the course meets. Participants are responsible for costs
related to texts and materials. Attendance is crucial for UNIVERSITY
97 credit. Participants are excused for emergencies only and are
expected to complete additional work to compensate for the time
missed in class. District credit awarded for satisfactory completion
of a course offered by District 97 is not transferable to another
place of employment for placement on the salary index.
