Music Camp

Summer music camp focuses on the large group ensembles of Band, Orchestra, Jazz Band, and Chorus. Students may sign up for one session, or for two consecutive sessions. Any ensemble with a I is appropriate for students entering fifth or sixth grade. Any ensemble with a II is appropriate for students entering seventh through ninth grade. A final concert will be held on the morning of Friday, August 16, 2012.
Fees are $75 for one session, or $150 for two sessions. Scholarships are available for District 97 students who receive free or reduced lunch.
Session I • 8:30-9:30 a.m.
B1 - Band I
Band I is an ensemble opportunity for woodwind, brass, or percussion students entering fifth or sixth grade with at least one year of experience on their instrument.
O1 - Orchestra I
Orchestra I is an ensemble opportunity for string students entering fifth or sixth grade with at least one year of experience on their instrument.
Session II • 9:45-10:45 a.m.
C1 - Chorus I
Chorus I is an ensemble opportunity for students entering fourth through ninth grades. No previous choral experience necessary!
JB1 - Jazz Band I
Jazz Band I is appropriate for woodwind and brass students entering sixth grade. Previous jazz experience is NOT necessary. Students will learn the basics of swing and improvisation. Students with 3+ years of experience on piano, guitar, or drum set may audition to participate. JB2 - Jazz Band II
Jazz Band I is appropriate for trumpet, trombone, and saxophone students entering seventh through ninth grade. Previous jazz experience is NOT necessary. Students will learn the basics of swing and improvisation. Students with 4+ years of experience on piano, guitar, or drum set may audition to participate. Session III • 11:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m.
B1 - Band II
Band II is an ensemble opportunity for woodwind, brass, or percussion students entering seventh through ninth grade with at least two years of experience on their instrument.
O1 - Orchestra II
Orchestra II is an ensemble opportunity for string students entering seventh through ninth grade with at least two years of experience on their instrument.
