Irving School WORM Club
WORM (Working on Reading in the Morning) Club is for students in grades 1, 2, and 3 who need extra assistance in reading. The program is before school from 7:30 to 8:00 a.m. Mondays through Thursdays in the Irving Media Center. There are 25 students signed up for the program in the primary grades. The students read aloud books to a volunteer tutor and then take a short quiz on the computer with our Accelerated Reader Program to test their comprehension. The tutors are mostly retired adult community members but we also have Irving parents, current and former Irving students, and even Irving staff. Mr. Sakellaris, an Irving third grade teacher, is the Worm Club coordinator. Click here to view photos!
