Spelling Bee

Each year in the Spring, students at Irving School are given the opportunity to participate in a classroom Spelling Bee which then qualifies them to compete in the Irving School Annual  Spelling Bee.  Teachers are given a master Classroom Spelling Bee list that may, or may not, be given ahead of the Classroom Bee in order for preparation or to ensure fairness. The 2 winners, and 1 alternate, from each class then compete against other students at Irving School in a 2 day school-wide event.  The classroom representatives Primary students (Grades K-2) and Intermediate students (Grades 3-5), are given a master list to study from prior to Spring Break, and the Bees are generally held the 1st or 2nd week in April.  1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners receive trophies, and all participants in the School Spelling Bee are given participatory ribbons.
