Julian Goal Setting--Round 2 (Positive Learning Environment, Inclusive, Whole Child)

In an effort to create a positive learning environment that focuses on developing the whole child, we have started our 2nd round of goal setting. Learning how to set goals and achieve them is a skill that will benefit our students well beyond their time at Julian Middle School. Goals help us organize our time and resources. They also help motivate us in the short-term to achieve long-term success. We are focused on setting goals that are Specific, Measurable, Action-oriented, Realistic, and Timely.

On February 23, students spent time in advisory determining if they achieved the goals they set during the 1st trimester.  They also completed a survey created by the Julian School Improvement Team that enabled them to provide feedback about the goal setting process. This feedback was analyzed and some adjustments were made to this process to better meet the needs of our students.

The week of March 13, students established a goal related to MAP scores as well as a personal goal. In order to stay focused on meeting these goals, students will have goal setting check-in/reflection days during advisory class on April 13, April 27, May 8 and June 1. As a way of supporting the goal setting process, you can ask your student about his/her goal and discuss it regularly to see what type of progress they are making.

2nd Trimester Report Cards

Students are receiving their 2nd trimester report card today during 9th period. Be on the look out for these when your student arrives home from school this afternoon.
