District 97 Seeking Community Input on Budget for 2017-18 School Year

On April 4, 2017, the voters of Oak Park passed two referenda questions that will enable District 97 to fund projects aimed at advancing our vision of creating a positive learning environment that is equitable, inclusive, and focused on the whole child. If we are able to achieve this goal, then every child we serve will be:
Known, nurtured, and celebrated learners
We want every student in D97 schools to feel safe, a sense of belonging, and be meaningfully engaged in rigorous learning with their unique needs met and their strengths leveraged.

Empowered and passionate scholars
Every student will be inspired to develop their full potential academically, physically, artistically and emotionally in order to cultivate high intellectual performance.

Confident and persistent achievers
Every student will have equitable access to universally high academic expectations that will help prepare them for success at the next level.

Creative critical thinkers and global citizens
Every student will be meaningfully engaged in the learning environment and challenged to become a critical thinker, creative solution-seeker, and contributor to the global community.

We know that the choices we make today will impact our district for years to come. That is why we want to provide the people of Oak Park with an opportunity to offer their feedback and guidance not only on the investments we are currently making, but also the ones we will make going forward. By doing so, we believe we will be better equipped and prepared to make decisions that will support our steadfast commitment to fiscal stewardship and help shape the future of our students, our schools and our community.

We have developed a special Let's Talk page that features several key topics and critical areas we believe will benefit greatly from the insight of community members. The information provided will help the administration create the recommended budget for the 2017-18 school year that will be presented to the Board of Education for review and approval. This page will be accessible 24 hours a day, seven days a week from a computer, tablet or smartphone until Wednesday, May 31.

Please access the Let's Talk page here and offer your feedback on the district's budget/investments for the 2017-18 school year.
