Join the 5th Graders at Lincoln School in raising money for food charities by bringing the whole family to a basic but delicious
pasta dinner in the Lincoln Cafeteria.
All proceeds go to charities that have been researched and selected by each 5th grade class.
Food-themed artwork created by 5th graders will also be sold to raise additional funds for hunger charities.

Many students in grades 3-5 have joined the Lincoln Trekkers Walking/Running Club this year. The idea for this club came from the Lincoln School SIT committee. So far the students have logged hundreds of miles- WAY TO GO!

Lincoln students enjoyed a Video Production Workshop on Tuesday compliments of the PTO. Students learned about video editing, how to create commercials, and blue/green screen technology. The finished video will be available for classroom viewing soon.

Lincoln Trekkers Program Returns...many students in grades 1-5 have joined the Lincoln Trekkers Walking/Running Club this year. The students meet every Thursday at lunch recess to walk or run 1/4 mile laps around the school. The idea for this club came from the Lincoln School SIT committee.

Vince the Prince: A Tale of Victory Over Bullying
Lincoln students learned the difference between teasing and bullying, the four roles in every bullying situation, and what to do to overcome a bully. This assembly was sponsored by the Lincoln School PTA.

to speak at a press conference at the State Capitol Building in Springfield.
Lieutenant Governor Pat Quinn contacted Deputy Chief Mark Pukanitis of the
Oak Park Fire Department about Mrs. McGuin's medical emergency and the use
of the AED. This press conference is the beginning of a grass root effort
to place AED's in communities all across Illinois. |

Angels
Lincoln School Student Council collected more than 800
books in March to benefit the BookWorm
Angels Organization. The books collected will be taken to needy schools
in Chicago. Thanks to all the students that participated in this worthwhile

These 1st, 2nd and 3rd graders at Lincoln are learning about dinosaurs and
paleontology in Science. Thanks to a donation from the Bell family they
are using hammers, chisels, brushes and tweezers to uncover the bones that
are embedded in a block of stone. |

Lincoln was one of five Chicago area schools chosen to
participate in the Preferred Meals Pizza Taste Test. Fifth grade students
compared two NEW kinds of pizza and recorded their observations and preference.
The results from this taste test will help Preferred Meals decide on a
new variety of pizza to serve in schools across the country.

Students in grades 3-5 participated in the Newsbowl USA contest on March
8. Students met one morning a week at 7:15 AM to study the news to get
ready for the test. This year, over fifty students participated
in the program.
