The Zebra
by Safira

Some animals use camouflage for blending in with their surroundings. Animals camouflage with patterns, colors, or body shape. Some animals use camouflage so they can catch their prey. Some animals use camouflage so they won’t get eaten. Some animals use use camouflage for both. One animal that uses camouflage is the zebra.

The zebra is a fast striped mammal. A zebra is many colors like brown. A zebra can run up to 40 mph. A zebra can weigh over 600 pounds. A female zebra leads the herd. A zebra can sleep standing up. A zebra can live up to 28 years.

The zebra lives in the grasslands of Africa. Zebras live in large family to five hundred zebras in all. Stripes help zebras find each other.

A zebra is a prey. A zebra eats plants. A lion will eat a zebra. So will an African wild dog. Hyenas and maybe a cheetah will eat a zebra. Lots of things will eat a zebra.

The zebra uses camouflage to hide. Camouflage helps many animals to survive.
