District 97 Seeking Members for Finance Committee

District 97 is seeking dedicated individuals from the community with backgrounds in finance, banking or accounting who are interested in applying to serve in a voluntary capacity on our Finance Oversight and Review Committee (FORC).

FORC, which meets on a monthly basis during the school year, provides the board of education and administration with ongoing expertise, oversight and guidance on the district’s fiscal operations. The committee also reviews the district’s financial performance, which includes activities such as monitoring budget projections in comparison to actual experience, examining rolling five-year projections, and reviewing and commenting on investments, budget development and the district’s annual audit. People can access additional information about FORC by visiting http://www.op97.org/boe/forc.

The board is currently looking to fill two openings on the committee. People who would like to be considered for membership are asked to please submit a brief statement that answers the following three questions:

  • Why do you want to serve on the committee?
  • What role can you play in advising or supporting the board on activities such as providing oversight and guidance on the district’s fiscal operations, monitoring budget projections in comparison to actual experience, examining rolling five-year projections, and reviewing and commenting on investments, budget development and the district’s annual audit?
  • What experience do you have in finance, banking, accounting, budgeting or investment?

Please submit your interest in serving on FORC and your answers to the questions to Lou Anne Johannesson at [email protected].
