District 97 is seeking dedicated individuals from the community with backgrounds in community outreach, marketing, community organization or communications who are interested in applying to serve in a voluntary capacity on our Committee for Community Engagement (CCE).
CCE, which meets on a monthly basis during the school year, provides the board of education and administration with ongoing expertise, oversight and guidance on the board’s engagement with the community. The committee also advises the board on how to share information and gather feedback on key initiatives. People can access additional information about CCE by visiting http://www.op97.org/boe/committee-for-community-engagement.
The board is currently looking to fill four openings on the committee. People who would like to be considered for membership are asked to please submit a brief statement that includes answers to the following three questions:
- Why do you want to serve on the committee?
- What role can you play in advising or supporting the board on activities such as developing new channels for two-way communication with the Oak Park community, and connecting with existing networks and institutions in the village on issues of relevance to the district?
- What experience do you have in communications, marketing, public interest campaigns, community organizing or community outreach?
Please email your interest in serving on CCE and your answers to the questions above to Lou Anne Johannesson at [email protected].
