Important Information about Residency Verification

August 20, 2012

There are still some families of District 97 students who need to verify that they currently reside in Oak Park. These families include:

  • Renters whose leases have expired
  • People who have moved within the last few months and have not updated their address

If you are in one of these categories and have not already verified your residency at your child’s school or the district’s central office, we need you to come to the central office building located at 970 Madison Street to complete the verification process immediately in order for your child to be admitted to school on Wednesday, August 22, 2012. Below are the documents that will be accepted by the district as proof of residency.

  • Homeowners – A mortgage statement that is less than 45 days old, the most recent property tax bill or a closing document and two other documents that feature your current Oak Park address. These other documents may include a driver’s license, a voter registration card, an Illinois vehicle registration, an Oak Park vehicle sticker receipt, a current public aid card, a bank statement, a utility bill, a credit card bill or any other piece of U.S. mail.
  • Renters – A current lease bearing the landlord’s name and phone number, and two other documents that feature your current Oak Park address. These other documents may include a driver’s license, a voter registration card, an Illinois vehicle registration, an Oak Park vehicle sticker receipt, a current public aid card, a bank statement, a utility bill, a credit card bill or any other piece of U.S. mail.

Please note that your child will not be admitted to school until this process has been completed.

If you have any questions or need additional information about the residency verification process, please contact the district’s central office at (708) 524-3000. Thank you for your attention to this matter and for your continued support of our schools and the children we serve.
