Teacher Leader Job Description

Purpose

    The role of the Teacher Leader for Instructional Technology is to work with teachers and administrators in understanding and implementing best practices that utilize and integrate technology in curriculum, instruction, and assessment.  The position provides leadership to improve student achievement and develop 21st century learners through effective applications of technology in a variety of ways.

    Responsibilities

    Curriculum

    • Be thoroughly knowledgeable about and assist teachers with understanding the district’s curriculum and instructional technology initiatives.
    • Provide guidance in the selection and use of appropriate technology and its integration into the curriculum.
    • Lead the development of electronic materials and activities to support the curriculum.

    Instruction

    • Design projects that use technology to further student achievement, address technology literacy requirements, and develop 21st century skills.
    • Model best instructional practices for using technology in both the delivery of instruction and the improvement of student learning.
    • Assist staff in professional implementation of technology.

    Assessment

    • Provide leadership on the implementation of effective assessment systems.
    • Assist teachers with understanding how to effectively assess student use of technology and student projects using technology.
    • Assist administrators with understanding how to assess staff use of technology.

    Professional Development

    • Demonstrate strategies for integrating technology in curriculum, instruction, and assessment.
    • Serve as a resource person for and/or leader of demonstrations, workshops, and courses.
    • Consult and plan for staff development that addresses individual teacher, school, and district needs.
    • Contribute to day-to-day support of teachers in their use of technology.
    • Provide technology orientation and support for new staff.
    • Design and deliver district core technology curriculum focused on improvement to student learning.

    District Leadership/Recognition

    • Engage in research related to instructional technology.
    • Serve on appropriate district committees as a technology resource person.
    • Chair any district instructional technology committees.
    • Represent the district at organizations like West 40 technology coordinators and the West Suburban Consortium on Academic Excellence.
    • Coordinate the development and continuing evaluation of the district technology plan.
    • Pursue recognition and awards for the district’s work in instructional technology.
    • Monitor technology-related grant opportunities.
