The original edition of the Teamwork Manual was started In 1997. Shortly thereafter, it was distributed for use by staff and parents. The purpose of the original document was to assist staff and parents in dealing with students' transitions from early childhood to school age programs, from elementary to middle school and from middle school to high school. The document was subsequently taken out of print.

With input from the Special Education Advisory Committee, the document has been brought back and completely reworked. The scope of the Teamwork Manual has been significantly expanded from the original document, and it is expected that it will now serve as a general resource to answer questions and provide lots of information about the District 97 Department of Special Education.
