Greetings and welcome to the 2012-13 school year!  I am excited to serve as the School Social Worker for 7th and 8th graders at Gwendolyn Brooks Middle School.  Please feel free to contact me if you have any concerns regarding your child's social and emotional well-being.  As the School Social Worker, I provide group and individual support services to students. In addition, I work closely with families to provide consultation and referrals to appropriate resources as needed.  I look forward to working with you this year.

In addition to being the School Social Worker for 7th & 8th grade, I am the Intervention Planning Team Facilitator for those grade levels.  If you have any concerns regarding your child's academic progress, the first thing you should do is contact their teachers (the Advisory teacher or the instructor of the class that is problematic).  If the issue is not resolved, you can request a meeting with the Intervention Planning Team to discuss how we can further support you and your child

For your information, during the month of March, all students are reading a book entitled Egghead that focuses on the issue of bullying.  Feel free to ask your child what their thoughts are on the book, which can lead to an enlightening discussion about how safe they feel at school and decision-making as it relates to peer relationships.
