Curriculum Guide

This site has been prepared to provide an overview of the District 97 curriculum at each grade level. It is not meant to be all-inclusive. Instead, its purpose is to provide basic information about District 97's curriculum and encourage parents to participate more fully in their child’s educational experience.

Illinois Learning Standards

Adapted from About the Standards

The core curriculum of D97 is aligned to the Illinois Learning Standards, based on the Common Core State Standards (CCSS), and the Common Core Essential Elements for students with significant cognitive disabilities. The Common Core is a set of high-quality academic standards in mathematics and English language arts/literacy (ELA). These learning goals outline what a student should know and be able to do at the end of each grade. The standards were created to ensure that all students graduate from high school with the skills and knowledge necessary to succeed in college, career, and life, regardless of where they live. For additional details on CCSS and the full list of the standards, please visit the Common Core State Standards Initiative website.
