March 1 and 2, 2005

Fireworks documentation from Macromedia:

http://www.macromedia.com/support/documentation/en/fireworks/index.html

Understanding Fireworks

Screen oriented...not print!

Internet based - minimizes file size.

Vector drawing - paths not bitmaps. No more "jaggies"

Create and reuse simple paths.
Separates -- so you can edit --stroke, fill, and effects

Floating Panels...Fireworks document panels. Use this page as a reference when you want to know where to find/do something.

If you've closed panels, go to Window on the menubar and get them back.

New in Fireworks MX is the Properties Window. It combines many of the windows used in previous versions of Fireworks and changes according to the selection (text/object/tool). Always keep the Tools and Properties Windows open on your desktop.

Live Effects....adapt to any changes made to the object itself

Inner Bevel, Outer Bevel, Drop Shadow, Glow, Emboss

Objects - Paths & Strokes - Fills

Text -Graphical

More text: kerning, leading, horizontal scale, baseline shift
Transforming text: strokes and fills
Change text shape: convert text to Paths, scale, skew, distort

Roll Over Buttons- Images with Behaviors
