Panels & Properties (MX)

With MX, the panels are "attached" and can be explanded or collapsed (as shown here). Many elements that used to have their own 'panel' are now located in the Properties Window, which changes as needed depending on the selection made.

 

Info: size, position on stage (and here that it is grouped).

Align - Quick visual way of aligning objects.

Color Mixer and Color Swatches windows are a way other than the tools panel to select color/gradients. To create a gradient - use color Mixer and switch from "Solid" to "Radial" or "Linear".

Components - Allow you to 'add' functionality to FLASH by downloading components from Macromedia's Exchange.

Property Windows can be simple and familiar such as for text seen below.

Or more unfamiliar, such as the "Tween" window.

So how in the world do you find what you need? It is much easier in MX, because you just need to be sure that you've selected what you want to "act" upon. For example, to get this "tween" properties window, select the area "between" two keyframes.
